Militarily, we are the strongest nation that has ever existed and nobody can touch us. If we want to kill everyone in the offending country. We are also very good at surgical hits and quick raids. Nobody can do the old in out like the Seals, Recon or the Green Beanies, though British and French Commandoes are also great in this area. However, we are vulnerable in that big divide between all out destruction and putting a shell across somebody's bow.

Hi Dale, Re: Iran would be the same problem as Iraq multiplied by several magnitudes, not to mention double or triple the price tag in lives and money. Iran's military budget runs about $9 Billion per year. Syria's is about $1 Billion, and it is probably considered more vexatious by the war planners in Tel Aviv. My bet is that we're getting a head fake on Iran, and that Bush's next move will be to march on Damascus, a far easier target than Tehran. Bush knew just how weak an enemy Saddam Hussein's regime would prove to be in Iraq. In the typical fashion of the schoolyard bully, Bush will be seeking out the weakest enemy possible to attack next.
