I guess in those terms, it's a lot easier to disband the military than it is to stop social spending. Which, come to think of it, would suit a lot of lefties just fine.


I think mandatory spending also includes military pensions and benefits, but that's beside the point.

Kicking around I found that the "Unified Budget", which includes income from programs like Social Security, was put into place in the '60 during Vietnam. So it was a "strategy" to hide the cost of war. But it stuck... why do the politicians (both parties) try to hide the truth?
