Its worse than that! while Dems decry how dangerous the stock market is, they never mention that you could invest your dough in bonds, including municipal bonds. They also never mention how risky it is to leave your money with a fund manager (the U.S. Govt) who decides to never invest your money at all like they promised and uses it to buy personal items for itself with (trips, boats, limos, jets, helicopters, bonuses). in the general fund as "surpluses". Boy if Peter Lynch did that with his fund's money and got caught he'd go to jail! Sure Peter Lynch could take all the investment $ coming in and take any extra that he didn't want to invest and buy himself mansions, cars and trips and put IOU pieces of paper in the account. Thats exactly what the Treasury does. I can't think of a riskier investment than paying into SS. Hell puting the money directly into a personal account is less risky than that, especially in BONDs. If you die, the money is still there! What a concept! "Excess" money in the account is still there and not spent on toys for the FBI, helo rides for 3 star Generals, and studies of how fast ketchup flows! What a concept!
