Steve, have always been pro-privatization and have said so repeatedly. No need to lump people of either party into one bucket.

Am assuming management fees will be much lower than 1% which they could achieve, otherwise it's a deal breaker for me.

Am hopeful the measely $1k cap will be removed when independent minded Gen Ys come on board and say the $1k limit is ridiculous, as well as opening this up to individual stocks.

People didn't believe me when I said the cuts would be 40%, but maybe they do now. Like you, I'd rather have the money in a brokerage firm with my name on it, rather than the govt's name.

They should let us write cov calls on it - that would take care of the underfunded SS deficit problem!
