IMO, you can almost credibly make such a claim & attempt to create the perception of having the highest principles & ethics. You may even believe that means you are above the fray. That does not mean that you don't demean, ridicule, malign or intentionally insult individuals, & groups of people. And it does not mean you don't look down on, talk down to, dismiss out of hand, vilify &/or berate individuals or groups of people who just do not happen to be in lockstep with your POV's. And believe it or not, when folks do so frequently & publicly; some people are going to see right through the ruse & call them on it when it happens. JMHO
