Thx for the TSP.gov link but the site doesn't answer my question. Is this a replacement for a 401k? Still Bush's proposal to have many people opt out makes the problems of Social Security worse. What's he's not telling people is that the benefits will be so massive cut to balance the reduced pay in that those that need it most will be completely left out in the cold. This is a callous heartless plan. Senator Reid has enough votes to kill and it's dead. Fix SS by eliminating the $90,000 ceiling and making all wages subject to SS deductions. Simple.
