Which is why retirement was set at 65. But 65 doesn't make as much sense for, say, university professors. My father is 74 and a watchmaker/jeweler. Officially retired, but he still works on watches. Partly because he makes more money than he ever did, despite only working part time, but also because he loves it.

We could make exceptions for those, but fewer and fewer people are working that kind of job these days. There's less of putting up girders and more "would you like fries with that?"
