Pick 3 letters at random from a bag of 26 (all the letters of the alphabet). What are the odds you pick the letters CAT in that order.
Assuming drawn drawn letters are bot put back in the the bag:

The chance of the first letter being 'C' is 1/26.

25 letters remain.

The chance of the 2nd letter being 'A' is 1/25.

24 letters remain.

The chance of the third letter being 'T' is 1/24.

Therefore the chance of drawing 'CAT' in that order is (1/26)*(1/25)*(1/24) or 6.41*10^-5

Assuming the letters are placed back in the bag after each draw, the probability is 1/(26^3) = 1/17576 = 5.69*10^-5.
