i don't think traders "know" anything about a limit order that floats up. but the markets could be a lot less liquid now than when you traded them--the entire population of 20yr+ zeros is a lot smaller than Google's market cap. maybe only a couple billion--one could check easily enough. i have had orders sit for over a week.

very similar to the long dated energy futures in that respect.

of course, if you are a true deflationist who thinks a 4-handle on 24-yr duration of American Confetti is the greatest bargain of the century, then holding to maturity eliminates one leg of the trade.
