I agree. But there's more....

There seems to be a typographical error regarding the calculation of the interest. It seems that the article should have read "41.x%". Here's why:

In FY 2002, the interest on the national debt amounted to $332 Billion. Source: publicdebt.treas.gov

Thus, if we divide the figure attributed to war costs by the total interest payment we have:

138/332 = .416 or about 41% of the debt attributed to war profiteering and related corruption.

I congratulate you on your ability to concentrate and on your close reading of the text. But I believe that Mr. Higgs is basically correct, conceptually, while being in need of a better editor/fact-checker. :)
