Hi Ted,

Thanks. That was an excellent post.

You can add to George Bush's failures as a "bringer of civilization" the fact that Baghdad is currently surviving on about 2 hours of electrical service per day, according to a guest on PBS's NOW! program this evening. Kidnappings, which were almost non-existent during the Ba'ath Party rule are now commonplace throughout Iraq.

Now if we see George Bush as the anti-Christ, the false prophet who is leading us all into the hell of Armageddon, he seems to be doing a bang-up job. I can't wait for him to take a whack at Iran and stick his inordinately ignorant ass into another hornet's nest of murderous complications.

Getting our asses kicked means we don't have control of the country; it means that people are not even safe in the heavily protected US Green Zone from rockets and suicide bombers, it means that the Baghdad airport can not have commercial traffic because its too dangerous; it means that we clear out one problem area...Fallujah.....only to have it all move to a second......Mosul; it means we have to bring in 20k more troops on top of the current 135K in order to have an election and even then, people are killed; it means the road from the airport is one of the most dangerous in the world; it means that over 200 foreign contract workers have been executed in the last year; it means that over 1k American soldiers are dead and 10K are seriously maimed; it means that we have no idea when we can exit the country; it means we have spent nearly $300 billion and the country is not secure.

Nope. None of that would qualify as getting our ass kicked. It doesn't even qualify as losing and losing doesn't equal getting your ass kicked, all though sometimes a narrow loss is just as bad.
