We are open to it because we are a very socialist state whose gas supply is controlled by Chevron. Their P&L sheet shows that they make almost triple the profit here they do on the mainland. Makes it easy to argue the case.

The answer is to make sure other oil companies have an easier time competing here. Shipping is easy. It's storage and dock space that is controlled. That is what broke the back of the retail prices on other items in Hawaii. The rise of Wal Mart and Costco really made a difference here.
