Thanks for the input, sillyvestor, but that's not what Parson said. He said they didn't count as unemployed because their unemployment benefits ran out. That's clearly wrong, as I explained.

BTW, the civilian labor force has grown by 1.2 million over the last twelve months and the percentage of the over 16 population that is currently employed is up slightly over the same period. The growth in the labor force has been more than offset by the 1.8 million more people working than a year ago, so the unemployment rate has gone down from 5.7% to 5.2% because job growth is out-pacing labor force growth, NOT because people have "stopped looking."
