Z, Maybe on a per month basis (though 100X seems beyond belief), but remember that on average, people work for forty-five years and only take out for less than 10. But you have to remember, that SS is a pyramid scheme that would have collapsed long time ago, based on the growth of the number of people eligible and the benefit rates. What postponed the collapse was a series of tax increases, every few years, that pushed back the collapse few more years into the future. So the people who are receiving benefits today paid (during their working age) tax rates that were a fraction of what you and I are paying. Joe
