Oil is much more useful as a raw material for plastic than as a way to power SUVs.

Wind farms 30-50 miles off the coast would be a major producer of energy.

Yes cosmic the point I was trying to make was of change over geologic time.

I really don't know much about the formation of oil and not many do either, I don't think..<g>.. After all these years, as I understand it, there is still a lot of discussion of how liquid hydrocarbons form from the kerogens.. And that is just the beginning, then you need migration to a resevoir with good porosity, permeability, and finally a trapping mechanism, structural, stratigraphic, etc.. And all that jazz. All together a unique process..

I better quit, as I'm no ahl n' gas man, with lots of oil on my hair and gas in my belly.. <g> I know that gold n' silver bidness.. :)

Take care,

m

P.S. Here's a fun little clip about the earth's change.
Think Pangaea..

Here's another fun little site cosmic, (if a person likes to watch grass grow or paint dry..LOL).. I stumbled into.

"The Continental Drift Cam"

They even have a 'slow motion' mode if things are moving too fast for a person and a 'night time' mode if all that speed is hard on the eyes.. ..LOL

As it says..

<<Don't let plate tectonics sneak up on you!
Check in with the Continental drift Cam several times a day.>>
