Vacate Wyoming? Move all the plains dwellers in Canada into somewhat safer appearing areas?

Well, it sure sends the shits down my pants legs.

A quake in Yellowstone of that magnitude will probably set off the fault running straight down the middle of Salt Lake City. A moderately large quake down that fault will liquify the east bench of the Wasatch Range.

If Utah isn't buried by Yellowstone debris, ~1 million people will be buried by the valley collapsing.

The environmental crowd has been trying to give the plain states back to the Indians and the buffalo. :>)

>>where is the brave soul, the psychic, all knowing individual who will call for vacating an entire State?<<

OK, I'll step up to the plate. I propose that we cut a deal with Australia to add it to the USA as a set of additional states. As a sweetener we provide the $100 billion needed to irrigate most of the continent with water from the monsoon region in the north of the continent. We move 30 million people to Australia, and disperse the USA government to get rid of the physical concentration in Washington, DC. These measures would provide us with much greater geographical diversification against natural disaster and terrorist attack.

Hey, it's a lot more practical than spending billions on a mission to Mars!
