If kholt and Lady MCBETH ever meet, I suspect the two will bond like long-lost sisters. Both are women. Both are exceptionally articulate. Both have an interest in government work. Both are adept at rationalizing their point of view and blurring the distinction between right and wrong. Both are scrupulous regarding their own personal hygiene, etc. I scratched my head over that post when I received it trying to ascertain your point. I found it interesting and clever but I was clearly missing the message. Surely you didn't post that just to display your cleverness. After some pondering, I set it aside as I often do to give my subconscious time to chew on it. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't have my eureka moment until this morning. The reason it took so long, I think, was because I was focusing on what was actually in the post, the comparison actually made. I was pondering, for example, how it is that you think I'm an apologist for evil. Despite the fact that the discussion was about stated comparisons vs extensions, it took me until today to realize that by your statement you were also attributing to me Lady Macbeth's characteristics of ruthless ambitiob and murder just as the that Slate article was allegedly saying Bush starves his people and packs them off to re-education camps. What to make of this? I guess one could conclude that I'm a little slow on the uptake. There was the context to give me a clue. And your addition of "etc" was a clue, but I kept looking at what was there rather than what was not there. A clearer conclusion for the delay, seems to me, is that it just isn't natural to conjure up extensions and focus on and be outraged by them rather than focusing on the comparison actually made. If it were natural, it wouldn't have taken me so long to "get" it. Seems to me.
