I find Mr. Kohli's statement mysterious. "Our own language"??? Does he mean Hindi or Punjabi or Bengali or XXX or YYY? I suppose he means Hindi but that is only the most common language; it's not the universal language in India by any means. There is a consensus in India to speak English when people do not have the same Indian language. That's one of India's big problems. China has the advantage of a single written language. Indians program in English to get universality across their country but only the most educated 5% of the population is comfortable in English. A Chinese person could become a good programmer without mastering English. Proclaiming Hindi as the national language of India never succeeded. India will continue to get the lion's share of the user specific business where the user, a foreigner, chatters in detail in English about what he wants which is very specific to his own company. But that kind of business, only partially transferrable from customer to customer, is only a niche business. His talk leads one to the conclusion that universal type software in the future will mostly be produced in China.

Instead of focussing on learning English and writing software in English as we do in India, Chinese write software in their own language. . Yiwu, Tell us as much as you can concerning IT in China. What kind of hardware is in use? What kind of main frame hardware do they use? What kind of servers? How about supercomputers? Are there any purely Chinese architected hardware - CPU wise? WRT programming languages - What computer languages do they use for business software? How about fortran, basic, C, HTML, XTML, ???? Are these languages translated into Chinese? Are there any computer languages that are only in Chinese? What about Linux or open source software? Thanks
