Got me black hawk... let me know when you find out.

I watched Fog of WAR yesterday on STARZ TV.. It is an interview with Robert McNamara... He is 85 now and in this interview is reflecting back over his tenure with this government under Kennedy and then Johnson.

It is a very interesting hour plus...I hope everyone can get to view it.

The most surprising bit of information he dispensed: During the Cuban Missile Crisis( this was all learned later in a talk with Castro ) Castro was prepared to launch Nuclear Missiles at us. McNamara said, well that would have brought the temple down around you Castro said, I know.

McNamara was shocked... He said 3 times we were close to Nuclear war.. this close and he held his thumb and fore finger up to indicate a half inch.

The saddest thing was how unnecessary Viet Nam was. He did not learn this until 1992 when he visited Nam and talked with whomever it was that had directed the troops in the war where 58.000 Americans died. The Viet Namese thought we were trying to occupy their land as the French had done. They were not aware we were fighting them to keep Communism at bay. ..
Lack of understanding another culture, not communicating and unwillingness to discuss alternatives causes wars.
