I saw 60 minutes and no mention was made of Schmidt "selling like crazy", because he isn't and neither are Brin and Page. They have a 5 year planned selling plan to divest 20% of their holdings in total. The amazing thing to me, is the venom against this company by so many shorts. I have determined the shorts today are like the longs 7 years ago, just echoing conventional wisdom. Anybody who actually looks at the insider selling at GOOG, and compares it to any other insider selling (and I am leaving off the really big insider dumps at microsoft and other mature companies) would deduce that there is almost no insider selling going on. I think if Brin page or Schmidt sold even one share of GOOG you guys would be barking. Just to put it in perspective look at the cash goog is generating and compare to the insider sales. Unless an insider is selling over 100mm its not significant.
