Oh it sure does! Kids as well as adults will single out the smaller guy sometimes.

My oldest boy's best friend was always shorter then the rest of the kids. When he got to Jr. High he was getting picked on and a small group of his friends always came to the rescue.

The summer before High School he started to grow and no one thought anything about it. Turns out, his parents were taking him to get growth hormone shots. They cost a pretty penny and weren't covered by insurance. His Mom confided in me only, she said, because she needed someone else to bring him to games and pick him up from after school sometimes, she took an extra job to help pay for the injections. She wanted me to watch out for possible mood changes and asked that I tell no one about it. When he graduated from college, he had told all the friends that were close to him what his parents had done for him. His Mom told he that had he not gotten those injections, he would have stopped growing in Jr. High and would have only been 5 feet tall. Today, he's 5'8 and very grateful for the sacrifices his parents made for him.
