<I hope we have the right people doing the construction. It needs to be hopeful and generous - and prohibit those that are out to demonize or gain advantage over others.>

Mary, "We" don't have anyone doing it for us. That implies that you and the rest of "we" are the boss. Which misses the point.

Evolution isn't a generous, hopeful, beneficial process. It's a reproductive existential battle for survival. "We" have no special place in it other than what we contribute to achieve our survival and propagation, though we are thereby acting as the template for the next evolutionary development, just as our chimpoid ancestors acted as the template for humans, without knowing it and without planning it. They didn't have anybody in charge of construction. They just battled through life and mated and raised another generation as best they could which reiterated the process.

Everyone is in on the construction, to a greater or lesser extent, according to how they work, spend money, communicate, live and move. It's a global cultural phenomenon producing a new entity with a life and mind in It's own right.

It's a little like human tribal groups of 50 or so, living like bonobo chimps, gradually formed larger and larger groups, becoming a global military industrial complex with a life of its own, albeit still propelled by humans, although each human became less and less significant within the monster, until we are little more than the equivalent of mitochondria in a human body, providing the goods for the brain to do what it likes, taking us with it whether we like it or not, are aware of it or not.

The End of History is not nigh. We have not reached Nirvana or Utopia. The fun has just begun. Ted Kaczynski is in gaol. He tried, but failed to stop it. Luddites around the world are being steam-rolled.

Here It comes, ready or not. Not generous, not hopeful, not demonizing. Just is, or in this case, will be.

There are still some guys with guts there! <He insisted he never advocated or endorsed the nearly 3,000 deaths occurring Sept. 11, but only meant to explain that America's foreign policies - such as the support for U.N. sanctions against Iraq, which many have blamed for deaths through starvation and disease of 500,000 Iraqi children after the first Gulf War - can yield disastrous payback.

"What you are putting out will blow back on you, and that's what happened," he said.

"We're worried about weapons of mass destruction, in a country that has the largest inventory (of nuclear arms) in the world, the only country that has used them on civilian targets, and intentionally used them on civilian targets."

He raised one fist above his head, saying, "Power to the people" but his voice was largely drowned by the applause.>
