Moving Social Security into the private sector sounds a lot like moving other jobs that need some review into the private sector. It would be much better balanced by removing the cap on SS. Why $90k? Why not $10BB? Why any cap?

It's great when Bill Gates says that we need to find a new balance between salaries and benefits and cheers the erosion of the middle class. If he needs a heart bypass, he can just pull the money out of his pocket. For many families, this amounts to a threat of bankruptcy. I think BG could afford to fund as much of SS as a percentage of his income as the guy at Wal-Mart does. Poof: instant solvency.
