True. And the main reason they share that religion is because the stock price has gone up.

That works only until it doesn't. The stock price starts going down, and people tend to lose religion.


You underestimate people.

GOOG doesn't give out as much stock as other companies around here. So even if the employees did run for the exits it wouldn't be quite as pronounced as say, Cisco. There is also the small numbers in effect where only the first employees now are vested. Fewer employees than the big SV companies, and less stock.

The less stock thing is a blessing in disguise for the employees there. If GOOG gave out options like water the stock would never move. I work for a few companies like that now, whose stock hasn't moved in 3 years... bad news good news no matter just no movement... and that is deadly for morale.
