Yes, your the things you post are true. Sharon historically has been firmly in the right-wing camp. However, you have to admit that his recent actions speak very loudly in that context. The fact that he is attempting a pull back from Gaza and some parts fo the West Bank is unprecedented for a Likud party member. If anyone has a chance of pulling it off, it will be Sharon. So I am very hopeful about progress being made right now.

At the end of the day, though, there is enough blame to go around. Palestinians are no more innocent than the Jews are. If they both want peace, then painful compromises will have to be made by both sides.
