We're starting to talk about some serious memory now with the 8 and 16 gig flash chips. Good for MP3s, video applications. Especially with the increase in speed.

Until Samsung starts MLC with the latest process, Sandisk can stay highly competitive. So far, Sandisk/Toshiba seem to be doing a great job competing with the Papa Gorilla of Nand chips!

Samsung Electronics to Produce 4G NAND Flash Memory Chips in March
SEOUL, Feb. 15 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co., the world's No. 2 semiconductor maker, plans to mass-produce 4-gigabit NAND flash memory chips with next-generation 70-nanometer process technology starting in March, a source said Tuesday.

The planned mass-production, which Samsung Electronics claims to be the first of its kind in the world, comes as the chipmaker has shown strong growth in the global market for flash memory, mainly used for data storage in digital camera and mobile phones, the source said.
