I think the key to long lasting mideast peace will be some recognition on israels part of trilateral jewish/islam/christian religious oversighin Jerusalem

I've heard that idea before. The UN partition of 1947 proposed something like it. It was unworkable then and is unworkable now, because Muslims are opposed on principle to sharing with other religions. If they shared 50-50 with Jews or Christians, that would be denigrating Islam, which is the ONLY true religion and DESERVES the top spot, with others allowed in ONLY with due regard for their lower status. That's how they think. When Muslims had full control over the Cave of the Patriarchs, they graciously allowed Jews to pray on the steps outside. Inside was for Muslims only. Now thanks to the Israelis, all faiths can get inside to pray.

<It aint gonna be as easy as GST may think> There is only one thing that is easy in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict -- it is easy to derail the peace process. All that Hamas or any other group has to do is commit an act of terrorism and we are back to square one, or worse. That is what is easy. As for moving forward, that is hard. Look at Nadine's posts as a barometer -- she does not believe there can be peace. She does not believe the Arabs want peace. She does not trust the Palestinian leadership. And if there is an act of terrorism, she will be quick to say "see, I told you so" and to advocate returning to the tit-for-tat world that killed thousands of people and accomplished nothing in recent years. There is only one hope for peace -- the process must move forward and should not be allowed to be derailed by any acts of terror -- that is the only way to win the peace and defeat terror.
