Dogs really calm people down and somehow instill very nice values in (most of) us. I'm sure you've heard the quote "I want to be the kind of man my dog thinks I am." They expect the best of us because they give us their best at every moment. They are full of love and trust and live totally in the present, a very valuable life lesson in itself. They drag us out into the sunshine and fresh air, don't play really complicated emotional games, and are there in the middle of the night reliably to keep us company. No wonder your friend is happier now!
