I couldn't agree with you more. The extreme right are just as freaky as the extreme left!

Nice post!

"Marriage is the way our societies legitimize and recognize a relationship."

Suma if you want to use 'marriage' as a term that represents every kind of legitimate relationship ... I certainly can't argue with that.

In order to do that you have to get rid of the broader cultural context in which marriage has been applied over history.

I would like to see at least one lefty deal with that logically.

fresc keeps retreating into the same old rave that conservatives are trying to keep everyone but them selves from having legitimacy when XXXing.

Disclaimer: I am sure there are some extremists who want everyone to stop XXXing. I am not one and frankly the issue of some people not wanting other people to XXX who are different than them is irrelevant. And somehow, how straights feel about gays XXXing or anyone that doesn't turn them on is discriminatory??? OH please...

The issue is based on pure logic of how best to accommodate all people in the legal system. Civil Union is broadly supportable and I notice lefties have run away from that term, which makes me think this topic isn't about getting their needs met practically through the legal system.
