A good example is the invention of a constitutional right to privacy, and the definition of privacy to be such that abortion is "privacy" but government attempts to find out personal information about you are not unless they are fairly explicitly covered by the constitution (such as the 4th amendment). Its not the only example but it is perhaps the most obvious example when you are only considering Supreme Court cases that had a major impact.
