I would love to see a rational discussion of SSI. I've yet to see one. IMO, there are a lot of things that should be eliminated. I am not so wild about how survivor and disability benefits got rolled into the program. I think if a retiree has investment and/or other income over some reasonable amount, then SS goes away. For example, when Bill Gates retires, will be really need SSI? And so on.

We need to make sure our seniors don't have to scrouge through the dumpsters behind the Piggly Wiggly. It they want to, that is a different matter entirely...
