He is the chief executive of a news organization trying to build a brand name that people will recognize as a standard for reliable information, and he runs around spraying wild accusations like he’s Oliver Stone. And his bosses apparently think he’s the right man for the job. What could they be thinking? That’s the fascinating question.

You may have noticed on Lindy’s thread, the medium is usually more interesting than the message.

A lot of the blogs have been digging into what Jordan's said in the past on the subject, and where he might have gotten the idea that the American military is deliberately targeting journalists - see LB's posting from Captain's Quarters on Nik Gowing. Apparently this idea has been floating around in journalistic circles for quite a while, but been contained there. Now it's busted out and being torn to shreds. And I don't think people in general want to "get" Jordan for the hell of it, they are sincerely angry/upset/shocked at his remarks, no matter how sloppily they express themselves or try to explain why he should have said such a thing. I personally think he does believe it, just as Mary Mapes believed in her story about Bush and the National Guard, and his belief affects CNN's take on military news.

kholt, you always want to explore topics. I suggested there might be another reason for 9-11 (and all the terrorist activities of the previous 15-20 years as well.)

But it seems you only want to discuss ideas you agree with. Mine is a question that I personally think we should think about.

If the "underpriviliged" or anything similar, are told for years, and years, that their situation is ALL the fault of the Americans, there is bound to be some fall out from this. Particularly if the new outlets have different voices...one for American consumption, and one for Asia, and one for Europe and the Middle East (Jordan's words, not mine....posted the article last night in one of interviews he gave)~~~

But then, maybe you don't consider any of the terrorist attacks of Khobar Towers, US Embassys', WTC I, and of course 9-11, murder.

How much did CNN and it's voice (anti-American voice, from some of the articles I saw and noted last night here) cause the terrorists at all levels to plan and execute 9-11?
