That's not true. The SSA is an entity unto itself, very much like a corporation in America. It sould be treated on its ability to remain solvent. Good stewards of the SSA entity would make sure that it remains solvent. If the stewards see the assets dwindling and forecast a depletion of those assets by 2042 and a net cash outflow by 2018, then their fiduciary duty to the beneficiaries of that entity is to ensure adjustments are made to make it solvent again, or in this case to prevent the entity's insolvency.

Pretty simple stuff. I'm not quite sure why the liberals on this thread keep denying that the system is in trouble. Very ostrach-like in my opinion.
