Syrian overtures to Israel yesterday and perhaps to the US as well, albeit in unknown at this point may indicate that Syria at some point may do a 180 and break with iran and hizbollah, cut a deal with the US that will be helpful in defeating iraqi insurgents and perhaps uncovering some of the those wmds (if exist). Their price may be:
1. Off the terror list
2. Free hand in lebanon so it doesnt become run by hizbollah--Bush made a point at SOTU not to menion Lebanon when talking about syria's faults.
3. Peace with israel and participation in the MEU(free trade asscociation i have speculated on that mirrors the old EEU).

above is Pure specualation on my part. Syrians are wheeler dealers by nature. Time to wheel out terror alliances and whee in brave new world and align with Egypt, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.

Lebanese Hizbollah guerrillas are trying to recruit Palestinian militants for attacks on Israelis in order to sabotage Middle East peace efforts, senior Palestinian officials said on Wednesday

If the Palestinians are complaining about this, and not just the Israelis, that is a hopeful sign. The Pals never complained while Arafat was alive - of course not, because Arafat had invited Hizbullah in with his Iranian alliance.
