The leadership may well be from the well-off classes -- but the rank and file, the ones asked to drive a car into a crowd a flip a switch and meet the virgins, are more likely to be recruited from the ranks of the disaffected masses. OBL cut his teeth leading "freedom fighters" -- he was a financier and leader. But you can bet your rent that those he led were not all born with a silver spoon in the mouth.

Maybe the more affluent become radicalized because they have nothing better to do with their time. I know that may sound like an over simplification but when one is working to support a family, trying to put food on the table, having a family and not a harem... there is little time to terrorize anyone but ones own wife... ..

Seriously, how much time could each of you devote to the demands of terrorism..

Just a thought ..
