Agreed, but if SS doesn't, could it work politically?


Possibly.

A program is obviously going to have to work politically to get enacted and sustained, but that doesn't mean that the fact that something works politically is a justification for it. Social Security as currently constituted has worked politically for some time but that isn't justification for taking money from minimum wage workers to give to retired milionaires.
