"... with the flip of a switch they could throw us (and the rest of the world) into a recession, at best."

Such a thing could never happen. There is no historical precedent for it. Or is there?...

RE:"The Saudi's are our best friends in the region. In large part, they control the world price of oil. We better hope they don't put sanctions on us... with the flip of a switch they could throw us (and the rest of the world) into a recession, at best. With a worse net effect than any terrorist act you could imagine."

Exactly why we should have spent this money on the Bering strait bridge/pipeline. More oil from Russia and less dependence on the middle east. Not to mention drilling the AWR.

Aha! Now you have said it.

In past posts, I have repeatedly said that when you try to achieve long term objectives such as eliminating "tyranny from this world", sometimes you have to make short term practical compromises. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia come to mind. However, you and tejek both ridiculed my post saying that it was contradictory.

Now I have caught you saying the same thing and you can't take it back. ;)

It goes to show. Some of you will argue against whatever conservatives post regardless of the post's merit.

Honestly, I think it is you who lacks a true understanding of realpolitik with you naive ideas of fortress America and lack of desire to spread democracy as the only true defense of our way of life.
