But if they (hamas etal) try to stop the peace process, the PA must fight them first and Israel next if they get the bombers through to israel or the PA has only small success. Right of self defense is the first right of any state and i am talking as much of the PA as Israel when i say that.

The difference is, GST - and it's not insignificant - that in Iraq, both the Coalition troops and the government are fighting the terrorists, but in the Palestinian territories, Abbas is just trying to sweet-talk the terrorists. So whose side will he be on at the end of the day?

The US could not stop terrorists in Iraq -- and yet we had elections. And those elected represent the people of Iraq.

1 - I didn't say the Palestinians had to STOP the terrorists in their midst, but that they had to make a good faith effort to contain and suppress them and have some degree of success in that effort.

2 - It is in the long run the responsibility of the Iraqis to deal with their own terrorists. We share in that responsibility because we invaded the country and we are helping to suppress the terrorists but the main thing we can and will do in the long run is increase the Iraqi's ability to handle the situation themselves.

3 - The Palestinians also had elections.
