I think as we get older we have more and more responsibilities and interests(if we are lucky) and that makes the time seem much shorter. Every person who comes in to your family, or your circle of friends, takes up time. Every hobby and interest takes up time. Work becomes for many of us more and more complex, and entails more responsibilities as we age.

I think that is why we perceive we have less time.

more time and more money--- exactly. That was the way it was supposed to work.
I forgot to figure on rising tuitions, the airline industry, and my own feelings of guilt about wallowing in free time while my poor husband slaved away.
But I really am not complaining. I love the work I'm doing and the last tuition check was just written. Now if we can just keep the planes in the air.....
