Yep, that's why I posted that caveat. If we move into an environment like that, which can be exacerbated by crowding out due to deficit spending and debt, then all bets are off.

However, I think our deficits are short term and will start to shrink over the next few years. I also believe that the massive liquidity and stimulative environment we have had over the last few years will start to inflate the stock market again. This thing is like a pendulum. It swung way to high in the 90's and was followed by the perfect storm, which punctured the bubble. That hangover was treated with the perfect medicine (low interest rates, 3 tax cuts, massive gov't deficit spending), which will ensure that the stock market overshoots to the upside again.

This is a rollercoaster and we're in the climbing stage right now. It started to crank us up in 2003 and it will continue for several more years. JMHO.
