I agree - GOOG stock's main mission right now is to clean out the pockets of all the "Ollies" out there who think they got this stock pegged. Once, and only once does it fill the tank with some good coinage, leaving the rookie traders in the dust..then and only then will it set out in the ultimate real direction that is appropiate at that time.

Anindo, RE: I think GOOG is going to frustate both the bulls and the bears by remaining in a trading range for quite some time.

With the Fed raising rates at every meeting it is becoming more and more profitable to be short a non-dividend paying stock that doesn't move.

that is exactly my prediction, no movement in GOOG stock. However, the fundamentals will improve as time passes and at some point it has to rise. Right now goldman has $5.65 in 05 earnings for goog. It is only an expensive stock if you look at trailing PE, which is what the amateur shorts are looking at (and there are MILLIONS of amateur shorts in goog).

Also CSFB issued a pr a week or so ago that said the lockup was negligible. They would be one of the banks along with Goldman who would be placing the shares, so I think that PR is telling. Not the whole story of course but something.

IN this bear market climate, I believe it is a bear market anyway, all you can do is accumulate good companies and thats what I'm doing.
