From what Sergey Brin has said, I think they want out of the speculator spotlight, the stock price spotlight, so they can focus on their long-term business prospects, revenues, making the Net better than MSFT did -which company I agree with US District Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson did a lot of damage with its Windows monopoly, stifling competition.

I reallly liked what they did say during analyst day about wanting to respect Net users, making the Net a better place.

I criticized insiders for selling in advance of the unlock, but I'll hand it to them for this: they did not IPO in 99 and 00, when they could have. Clearly, they're LT thinkers and to me that is very respectable.
