Privately funded or government funded single payer both have their downsides and neither is better in my view... Our government system just spreads out the problems more equitably... then again our Prime Minister goes to a private clinic... but he's a politician so I expect hypocrisy....

I do lean to the publicly funded model because of my moral and political stance but that is admittedly subjective... If one of my kids needed treatment and had to wait in Canada... I'd be doing a Peter Paul and Mary.. and Leaving on a Jet Plane for the good old US and pay as you go ....so I guess I'm no better than my Prime Minister when push comes to shove....

EDIT: I'd prefer to make ours work than yours (in principle) ... but I wonder if either is realistic human nature being what it is and having seen health care from the inside on my side of the border...
