The consensus seemed to be that we needn't worry much about them, because we report the news and bloggers only offer their opinions. But the Eason Jordan story was brought to our attention by a web logger, and it was other bloggers who uncovered earlier remarks by Mr. Jordan in the same vein. Seems like reporting to me.

If the MSM (the emergence this year of that dismissive acronym is not insignificant) DID report the news THEN bloggers would have only their opinions to offer.

The three times that bloggers have seriously influenced the news in the last year - the Swiftvets, Dan Rather and the forged memos, and now Eason's defamation of the military - were all occasions when the MSM chose NOT to report the news. So bloggers broke the story instead.

Several hours later, VERY light Jordan-CNN reporting....Here's headlines from the latest sources....only 225 reports versus 2000-3000 on other items...CNN site itself still does not have any info about this on it's home page.....No surprise there, I guess. So much for "news"...
