Steve, Some will say it's an unfair tax on the poor because the rich can afford to keep paying it and keep eating and getting fat. Well, the rich tend to eat more expensive foods, so the extra revenues will more than compensate for the rich's indulgences resulting in a progressive tax which liberals are champions of.

You forgot one thing. It all depends on what your definition of a "progressive tax" is. Many people don't think a flat income or sales tax is very "progressive."

Funny how that works. If I go out to dinner with my friends, we don't divide up the bill based on our incomes. If we did, I'd be having more dinners with my doctor friends ... ;-)
