I was, indeed, talking about the effects of humans on global warming. Exactly what I said about it was: "I don't see how you (referring to Derek's sample) can acknowledge the warming without recognizing that human activity plays a part in it," which is what he had asserted on behalf of his sample.

You then instructed me that there's no such thing as global warming ending with "it is hard to say there is global warming with a straight face."

I inferred from your lecture that you were under the impression that I had voiced some advocacy for the notion of global warming. I responded by indirectly pointing out to you that I had not, framing it as a challenge to you to reconsider your false impression, if indeed that was your impression.

In case that's still not clear, in summary, my message to Derek was that, if one believes in global warming, IMO one would logically have to connect it to human activity. I never said or implied that I was among those believers.
