Zeus, the numbers don't support the rhetoric. The fundamentalists have a majority. Period. You also have to assume that some of the members of secular Shiite parties can be swayed by the mullahs. Perhaps not most of them, but enough so the fundamentalists can do whatever they please, even if a couple of their own guys miss a vote due to being blown up or something. The Kurds probably hate the Sunnis more than the Shiites, so they are not likely to be a moderating force.

The comment that this election marks the high point for the fundamentalist majority makes you wonder. My guess is that we've already seen the first and last election, unless American troops remain on the ground to force another one.
