And I agree that it's wrong to generalize from individual action to "the US military", which implies command and control by the brass. I took "systematic" to mean that very command and control, an organized policy and battle plan. I see nothing in Eason's words to imply that. But I think it's very fair to paraphrase "deliberately killing journalists" qua journalists as "murder." I agree with you that "murder" has a more plausible defense. I think "very fair" is a bit of a stretch, though. If the journalist is perceived as an enemy combatant, is it murder? In any event, Eason said "target" and "kill" and there's no reason to upgrade that language to "murder" other than inserting one's own spin.
