Thanks. The original trademark was to a different product line belonging to Network Systems Inc. of Minnesota, dating back to the early Eighties. In fact, Hyperchannel was inked into many of the original Internet Engineering Task Force's (IETF's) RFCs, going back to the same era.

Funny you should mention Goldman Sachs in connection with its name. The earlier Hyperchannel product that I just referred to was used by GS&Co, prior to its going public, as a channel extension technology between its buildings in downtown Manhattan, and was supported at T1 rates by FSO systems for a number of years. The FSOs were made by American Laser. Odd coincidence, isn't it?
