Carl, the only two countries in the Mideast that can be of any use in a fight are Israel and Turkey. The way to make Israel a more useful ally (and it's plenty useful already), is to remove the Arab excuse-making and intransigence that makes it a pariah, not to dump them in favor of some corrupt Arab regimes that can't fight worth a damn anyway. The answer there is for the regimes to reform. Once people start to have a stake in their own government, they just don't care about hating the Jews as much anymore. And remember how, under Reagan, that excellent Israeli intelligence saved our soldiers lives in Lebanon? You don't want intelligence, but miracles. The Marines made themselves sitting ducks. But naturally, blame it on Israel. Oh, and then there's the Liberty incident. Oh, that old canard. Give it a rest, Carl, your prejudices are showing.
